How to use LootSpectrum

Quick start

1. Install the Chrome Extension or Firefox Add-on
2. Log in to LootSpectrum and head to the Sync page
3. Detect your inventory age, then start the data query
4. Be patient — ~10-15 min for average inventories (Steam rate limits)
5. If something seems off, hit "Clear Data" on the Sync page to reset

1. Getting started

LootSpectrum works through a browser extension that reads your Steam inventory history. Start by installing it for your browser:

• Chrome Web Store
• Firefox Add-ons

Also compatible with Brave, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers via the Chrome extension.

Once installed, create a free account on LootSpectrum or log in with your existing account. The extension will connect to the website automatically.

2. Sync via website (recommended)

The easiest way to get started is right from the website. Once you've installed the extension, head to the Sync page — everything you need is right there.

1. Make sure you're logged into Steam in your browser — the extension needs this to read your inventory history.
2. Navigate to the Sync page on LootSpectrum.
3. Click "Detect Age" to determine how far back your inventory history goes.
4. Choose your query mode:

• Catch-up: Syncs from now back to your latest synced event. Best for regular updates.
• Full Query: Loads your entire Steam inventory history from beginning to end.
• Custom Range: Specify a custom date range to query a specific time period.

Hit "Start Query" and the extension will begin loading your inventory history page by page. You can monitor progress in real-time on the Sync page.

3. Sync via Steam inventory page

If you prefer, you can also go directly to your Steam inventory page and navigate to the inventory history. The extension will detect the page and can analyze your history from there.

How it works: Visit steamcommunity.com/my/inventoryhistory while logged into Steam. The extension will detect the page and provide options to scrape your inventory history.

Steam API rate limits

Steam limits how often you can request inventory history data. Depending on the length and complexity of your inventory, you may run into timeouts where the script has to wait a few minutes before it gets access to the Steam API again.

• Average player (since ~2015): Expect around 10-15 minutes for a full sync.
• Active traders / heavy players: It can take significantly longer. Let it run in the background and check back periodically.

The extension handles rate limits automatically — when it hits a timeout, it will pause and retry on its own. Just let it run and it should resolve itself. You'll see a "Rate limited, waiting..." status on the Sync page when this happens.

Resetting your data

If you feel that your synced stats are incorrect or something went wrong during the sync process, you can reset your data completely and start fresh.

On the Sync page, click the "Clear Data" button. This removes all your synchronized events from the server. You can then run the sync again to reload everything from scratch.

Data accuracy

The extension reads exactly what Steam displays on your inventory history page — nothing more, nothing less. It does not access your Steam credentials or any private account data.

Important: If Steam has errors or fails to display certain events in your inventory history, the extension cannot capture those events either.

You can always verify what's shown by visiting your Steam inventory history page directly and comparing it with your LootSpectrum data.
